Empty Bowls: Pacific Community comes together to help feed homeless

The Pacific University Studio Arts Department and students enrolled in the Kitchen to Table course welcome all to become involved in the Empty Bowls charity sale occuring the weekend of Nov. 16 to 18. The event will be held at the Forest Grove Senior Center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night.

All are welcome to attend the event and purchase a handmade bowl of soup. The proceeds from these sales will go toward helping homeless teens via HomePlate Youth Services.

The university’s Sustainability Program worked in accompany with many generous entities including Simmer and Slurp Soup, Nana Cardoon, Slow Rise Bread, the Portland Meat Collective, Cattail Farms, the United Church of Christ and the Elliott Undergraduate Experience Enrichment Fund. They have ensured each bowl of soup will be made from sustainably sourced food. Pacific will also be working with fifth and sixth graders from the Forest Grove Community School to hold the charity event.
