CCE welcomes donations through Give and Go

The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) will be having a community day on May 13 from noon to 5 p.m. and May 17 from noon to 7 p.m. during its Give and Go program. The community day invites students and all Forest Grove community members to take one free donated item from the Give and Go program.

The Give and Go program for Pacific University Students will be May 12 until 17 from noon to 5 p.m. There will be pods in the Clark, Walter, Gilbert and Cascade Hall parking lots for students to donate their unwanted items. The CCE will not accept donations of open food items or undergarments.

All the items that are donated to the Give and Go program will be given to local organizations such as Home Plate, CREATE, Closet Green and St. Vincent de Paul. The CCE hopes organizations will provide these items to people for free rather than selling them.

The CCE encourages students to donate items rather than throw them away.

“Even when students are a bit wary of donating their items, the CCE will help them through the donation process,” senior CCE member Ady Romero said.

The CCE hopes their Give and Go project can also be beneficial for the environment. Donating items will help reduce waste in trashcans.

“The CCE is hoping to continue community day next year,” Romero said.
