Peace Corps veteran looks for new recruits

Peace Corps recruiter Lisa Snell was on campus Feb. 4 talking to students about upcoming Peace Corps application deadlines at the work and service fair.

Snell visited Pacific for the first time since her recent hire as the Oregon Regional Recruiter. As a Peace Corps veteran and someone with longtime recruitment management at REI and Columbia Sportswear, Snell said she is really looking forward to getting to know students and helping them recognize their potential and capability for the Peace Corps.

“I hear all the time that students don’t think they are good fits for the Peace Corps and I think that’s the biggest

myth,” Snell said. “The Peace Corps takes a wide variety of people and if you can present yourself in the right way, we are going to see your potential.”

Snell served in Morocco from 2003-2007 in the education sector. She said she went into the Peace Corps later in her life and would go back to serve in Africa in a heartbeat.

Snell encouraged students who are considering the Peace Corps to reach out to her because working with a recruiter makes all the difference in applications.

The next deadline for applications is in July and accepted applicants will ship out in dates ranging from January to March.

Interested applicants can reach Lisa at lsnell@peacecorps. gov.
