Open house showcases Boxer store

The university bookstore has created a new way for students to personalize their Pacific attire and gear. An informal, public open house will be held on Feb. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble university bookstore.

This open house is to kick off the new online store “Design Your Own.” The bookstore’s partnership with Barnes & Noble has allowed for this new online addition to The Boxer Nation Store, which also includes the bookstore and athletics. “Design Your Own” allows anyone to purchase Pacific gear at wholesale prices, and also offers quantity discounts for those who want to stock up on their boxer gear for clubs or events. A quick turnaround time is a great benefit as well for those who want their gear as soon as possible.

Another important benefit through the “Design Your Own” store is you are able to add your own art to what you’re purchasing, along with the Pacific logo.

The force behind “Design Your Own,” Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications Tammy Spencer, observed that students and alumni weren’t always finding the Pacific gear they were looking for. About a year ago, Spencer reached out to learn more about what was already available. She saw a need to create a way for the Pacific community to have a larger selection, and personalized Pacific gear.

Another element of The Boxer Nation Store, boxergear.com, was created by the Athletics Department to provide gear specifically for all of Pacific’s sports teams. Having these multiple resources to boxer gear provides beneficial awareness for Pacific. Spencer believes that this is “a plus for student recruitment, alumni engagement and fundraising.”

“We’re excited to have more options to purchase Pacific gear for students, alumni, staff and faculty and to make it easier to make those purchases,” said Spencer.

A representative from the online store will be present at the open house to answer any questions and to provide demonstrations upon request for anyone, whether it is for a club, or department order. There will also be product giveaways and refreshments provided during the open house.
