There will no longer be VIP or 1st Pick applications for students this year.

“1st Pick wasn’t working the way we had hoped it would. We wanted students to use it as incentive to build their ‘housing resume’, so we would have competitive applicants,” said Geraci. “However, we received many students comments that didn’t think it was fair.”

Other changes students will see deal with the payment method for the housing lottery.

All lottery entrance fees must be paid online through Pacific University Account Suites, found through Boxer Online.

The entrance fee is due March 13 by 5 p.m.

Also regarding the money that secures a student’s entrance into the housing lottery, if students want to cancel their on-campus housing, they must do so before July 1, 2013 or they will be charged at $300 housing cancellation fee and their previous $100 lottery entrance fee will be forfeited.

“In the third week of August, we lost nearly 60 housing students,” said Geraci. “We researched other schools and they charge up to $500 cancellation fees.”

For any students who are feeling unsure about any of the new policies or the new online Housing Lottery process, the housing staff will be available in the Alumni Room to answer questions.

They will be available on April 3, 4, 9 and 10.

Housing Lottery applications are due by March 25.
