Wing Luke Museum assists winter class

On Jan. 8, students in the Performance as a Witness class traveled to The Wing Luke Museum in Seattle, Wash. Jordan Johnson, Amy Smetana, Olin Blackmore, professor Elizabeth Klinger, Jenelle Taylor, Kathryn Onley, Risa Miyazaki and Michael Johnson (left to right) pose with former Japanese internment camp internee Mary Hirata (center). Hirata, who is now 86 years old, shared stories with the class of when she was 15 years old and an internee at a camp in Puyallup, Wash. Students will take their experience at the museum and conduct independent research to produce a play that will take place on Jan. 22 at 4:30 p.m. in the Tom Miles Theater.
