Among the many events that took place during Pacific’s Homecoming weekend, a gathering sprouted up to celebrate the successful first six months and the continuing development of the Life and Sol garden, located across from the tennis court area.

AmeriCorps employee and alumni, Robin Johnson, several environmental science majors many other students lent a hand in beginning the garden in the spring of this year. The idea was for the garden to allow environmental studies to physically experience the connection between outdoor education, the community and the relationships with the other departments.

The celebration held on Oct. 22 provided an opportunity for students to buy a pumpkin grown on-site, listen to live music, make crafts or even participate in a pizza-making party with campus chefs in Gilbert Hall.

All students, no matter their department or academic interest as well as members of the community are encouraged to drop by and lend a hand in preparing the site for the upcoming winter.
