Boxer Football

The Pacific University football team lost to Whitworth University 28-38 in their final game of the season. The Boxers had a halftime lead 28-21 but were not able to produce in the second half. Junior Quarterback Kenyon Harris went 26-36 for 231 yards and two touchdowns but was sacked 5 times. Harris also rushed for 50 yards and touchdown. 

The Boxers leading rusher was junior Josh Harris who rushed for 118 on 21 carries for a 5.2 average yards per carry.  The leading receiver was junior Ty Hargis who caught 11 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown.

The Boxer defense picked up two interceptions and two sacks in the game. Senior Kolby Nikolaisen led the team in tackles with 7 solo and 10 total. Behind him was sophomore Gage Quinabo-Reis with 6 solo tackles and 8 total.

 

Boxer Women’s Basketball

The Pacific women’s basketball team started their season by winning both of their exhibition games beating Western Oregon University 73-68 and The College of Idaho 71-61. 

In both games, junior transfer Camy Auinaldo led the Boxers in scoring, tallying 19 points against Western Oregon and 21 points against The College of Idaho. Auinaldo transferred to Pacific From Whitworth University, a Northwest Conference opponent.  Junior Courtney Carolan also was a pivotal player for the Boxers, scoring 19 against Western Oregon and 12 against The College of Idaho. 

In their game against The College of Idaho the Boxers had 18 steals and forced a total of 22 turnovers. The Boxers will open up their season officially at the Ken Schumann Classic against Evergreen State on Nov 22 at 6 p.m. 

 

Boxer Cross Country

The Pacific cross country teams finished their seasons after strong team and individual finishes. The men’s team finished in eighth place at the Northwest Conference Championships with 220 points. Their top finisher was Riley Stewart who earned 18th place with a time of 26:37.3. The men went onto finish 15th at the NCAA West Regional in Calif. 

The Pacific women finished in second place at the NWC Championships with a team score of 81, the best result the program has had in over 10 years. 

Sophomores Hannah Berdahl and Kara Putnam finished fourth and fifth for the Boxers with times of 22:49.8 and 22:51.2. The next runner to finished for Pacific was sophomore Eliza Irish who came in 16th place, followed by freshmen Taylor Isaac in 20th and capped off by sophomore Kristin Pilgrim in 36th place. 

The women’s team went on to finish 11th at the NCAA West Regional. 

 

Boxer Men’s Basketball

The Pacific men’s basketball team started the season 2-0, winning both of their games in the Santa Cruz Classic, but lost their home opener against Eastern Oregon University.

In their first game of the season the Boxers defeated University of California Santa Cruz 115-111 in overtime, then followed it up with a 99-96 win over Johnson and Wales University. 

In both wins the Boxers were led in scoring by senior Marcus Wallace. Wallace, who came off the bench in both games, scored 24 in the team’s first matchup and 19 in the next. Including Wallace, the Boxers had six different players score in double figures.  

In their home opener against Eastern Oregon the Boxers lost in overtime, 125-132. At halftime, the team was ahead by 14 but they were unable to maintain the lead in the second half. 

Marcus Wallace led the Boxers in scoring again with 23 points in 20 minutes, followed by senior Andy Isokpehi with 13 points and freshmen Nick Drynan. with 12 points. 

Eastern Oregon was led by junior Max McCollough who had 35 points 7 rebounds and 7 assists and senior Jared Schetzle who had 31 points 18 rebounds and 6 blocks. 

The Boxers will face Concordia University Texas on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. as part of the Ken Schumann Classic.
