The Pacific University Boxer Club recently named senior Breezy Brookbank athlete of the month for September. During the month, she scored a total of three goals including her game winner against Linfield College. It was her first time receiving the award and she was very excited her hard work had been recognized. “I feel like I have definitely put in a lot of work this season and a lot of my success has come from that and the help of my teammates and coaches,” Brookbank said. She has had a successful season this year despite switching to a new position this season. She originally played center back but made the switch to forward and credits her coaches and teammates for making the process easier. “My coaches and teammates worked with me to further understand my role and what areas I needed to improve on to be successful at the forward position.” Brookbank said.
“It was nice getting into the attack a bit more and just really focusing on learning the key tactics within that helped our team work together and allowed me to be successful as well.”
While the women’s soccer team has not played as well as they hoped, Brookbank feels they have made significant strides and improvements from previous years. With the season coming to a close, she believes the key moving forward is to continue to play
together as a unit.
“We won some and we lost some, but I feel like we have definitely shown improvement from previous years,” Brookbank said. “Like any program with a new coach and new players, there are some changes and there is a bit of a learning process. However, I feel as though we are moving in the right direction as a program.”
