With the holiday season rapidly approaching, it is almost time for everyone to gaze at all of the lights on display in Forest Grove for the Holiday Light Parade.

The Forest Grove Holiday Light Parade begins its course down Main Street on Dec. 5, at 5 pm for anyone and everyone to come and enjoy.

With the help and leadership of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on campus, Pacific University athletics will once again be represented in this parade.

“We have done it in the past years and it has been a blast to see happy families and get excited about the holidays,” said Allie Sims,

President of the SAAC at Pacific University.

SAAC’s desire is to support the Forest Grove community.

“We want to reach out to the community because they show us endless support at our games and events.”

As far as what the athletes will be doing, Sims announced that they will be walking down Main Street and handing out candy to kids and talking with the surrounding community during the parade.

Sims also pointed out that walking in the parade is “a good way to interconnect athletic teams and bond as a whole program.”

Each sports team have been tasked with making Christmas ornaments reflecting their sport. The tree will be placed in the back of a truck that will serve as their float.

After the parade the tree will then be taken into the Stoller Center and displayed by the front entrance. Along with the Holiday Light Parade on Saturday, SAAC will also host a gingerbread house making contest and athlete social. This will take place on Sunday in the Boxer Learning Center within the Stoller Center from 7-9 p.m.

“We wanted this event to interconnect teams since even within athletics we are all kinda separate,” Sims explained. SAAC will be bringing Christmas cheer to the Forest Grove community as well as on campus this weekend.
