Lacrosse runs up winning record

Women’s lacrosse is powering through their season with a No. 1 conference seating in the biggest conference since the beginning of the program.

Pacific is currently ranked first in a conference of five teams, including the brand new addition of Whitman College to the conference for the 2015 season.

With a record of 5-0 Conference and 10-1 overlall, the team has all but secured its spot as the conference forerunner.

Along with an impressive overall record, lacrosse has been sporting some standout individual athletes throughout the season.

have been named the Northwest Conference Student Athlete of the Week.

Senior attacker Amy Mayhugh has spent two weeks as the Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. She was followed by junior defender Meg Chapman and sophomore midfielder Paisley Hiefield.

Tenacity brought the team up from a previous conference season record of 8-7 to a current undefeated record with only four games remaining in the season.

“We started off this season with a lot of unease as we have a small roster that is largely unexperienced,” said Mayhugh. “That unease has really driven our success because everyone was asked to step up and contribute more.”

The team will continue their season April 12 at home against Linfield College.
