The combination of new talent and experienced returners makes the men’s basketball team the team to watch this winter season.

Head Coach Tim Cleary said that this season would be very different from last year because they have more players and more depth at each position.

With the abundance of talent at each spot there is more competition for playing time and this creates a higher level of play, Cleary said.

Cleary said people can expect to see a whole different look to Boxer men’s basketball this season.

They have more players and they have physically bigger players. They will have a bigger presence and more overall talent on the court.

The returners will bring their experience to the team and make a big impact.

Cleary said of the returners, juniors Colin Wester and Charles Mosley have improved greatly and have shown a lot of potential for having an impactful season.

Senior Andrew Beatty has stepped up and become a leader on the court. These players have learned the system that will contribute to the success of the team this season.

As far as new talent for the Boxer program, added onto the team are transfers David Berney and Dustin Bowser. Berney transferred from University of Portland and Bowser transferred from Whatcom Community College.

Both of these men will be players to watch this season and how they will contribute to Boxer men’s basketball program.

The freshmen class is made up of nine men that Cleary said have a lot of potential to develop and push the returners and transfers for playing time. Cleary spoke highly of everyone in the freshmen class, but he said freshman Marc Eppinger will do great things this season.

Cleary said he is very excited about this year’s basketball team and the upcoming season. He likes the level of talent this year.

“I expect us to constantly improve,” Cleary said.

He said he just wants the team to get better everyday.

Men’s basketball fans can expect the Boxers to hit the court looking to play hard and improve.
The first home game of the season is Nov. 15, at 7 p.m.
