The National Association of Athletic Development Directors recognized director of Athletics Ken Schumann for his fundraising efforts at Pacific University.
NAADD, which selects one person nationwide for this award from a Division I school and one from a Division II or Division III, named Schumann as the College Division Fundraiser of the year from a Division III school.
Schumann led efforts in several projects including raising the portion of money needed for the construction of the Lincoln Park Athletic Complex and the addition and start-up for the Pacific football program.
Along with this, Schumann developed the restart of Pacific’s Booster program which is a group of individuals that are interested in supporting athletics.  Schumann said the Booster Club has attributed to a triple in revenue this year for Pacific athletics compared with previous years of donations.
Schumann also played an integral role in the growth of the Pacific University Legends Golf Classic.
This past classic raised $425,000 and some of the money raised from that event will go toward digital display boards which will be mounted in the Stoller Center and will feature upcoming events and sports highlights.
Schumann said, ”It feels good getting this award, but I don’t look at it as receiving it as an individual. This has always been a team effort and I’ve had the opportunity to work with great staff members in the university.”
Schumann will be accepting the award at the National Association of College Directors of Athletics Convention in Orlando, Fla. this June.
