Event helps end homesickness

As a student who has been at Pacific four years now I can personally say that it is tough to be a young person attending college.

Monotonous routines, impossible homework and doing laundry can really drag someone down especially towards the end of fall semester. On top of all of that is homesickness.

Eating in the cafeteria is definitely a different experience than when you are at home with your family. For students who have come a long ways to attend Pacific it can be hard to not visit their home during the semester.

Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) along with the Office of Alumni Relations host a Past & Present Dinner to eliminate this monotony.

Past & Present Dinner is a special night when local alumni invite current students into their home for dinner. This year it will be held Sunday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m.

This may seem simple but it means a lot to both alumni and students.

Alumni who host the dinners are typically people who care about Pacific very dearly and love to have students visit their homes because they have the opportunity to reconnect with the place they once called home.

Students can expect to have a hearty, home-cooked meal accompanied with stories about Pacific and maybe make new connections along the way.

An added bonus is that you may even visit a house that has pets. For a new student who hasn’t seen their cat or dog in a few months it is a wonderful thing to be able to play with kittens.

If you are interested and would like to know more, visit the STAT table in the U.C. on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or email STAT adviser and Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Rachael Burbank, she deals with that sort of thing.
