The ribbon cutting for the All-Gender Restrooms attracted local media attention Feb. 19. President Lesley Hallick left her cabinet meeting to be a part of the ceremonial celebration, hosted by the Student Senate and the Center for Gender Equity. CGE Director Martha Rampton (right) explained the importance of welcoming language and the need for statement’s like Pacific’s. Vice President of Campus Betterment Ben Becerra explained what the project meant to him as a transgender student. Reporters from the Forest Grove News Times and KGBW and the Oregonian covered the event. CGE hosted a “potty party” immediately after the ribbon cutting for attendees to celebrate the event. With the addition of the all-gender signs to the single occupant restrooms, Pacific now has 30 all-gender restrooms across its campuses.
