Wellness Center funded by grant

The Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center received a grant for $100,000 for their new Cornelius Wellness Center last Tuesday, Sept. 18 from the Safeway Foundation.

The check signing took place at the Forest Grove Safeway. Employees and CEO of Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center Gil Muñoz were all present at the check signing.

“Thanks to the Safeway Foundation, store managers and employees for their amazing investment in our well-child obesity prevention program for kids zero to two,” was posted on the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center’s Facebook page, ”which will help our newest patients and their families get a strong start on the road to healthy, active lives.”

The new Wellness Center in Cornelius, centered on childhood obesity, will include  a commercial teaching kitchen, exercise space, community gardens, a group visit space and public greenways.

The sixth location of the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center in Cornelius will have their grand opening on Friday, Oct. 19 and is open to the public through RSVP from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
