A sustainability minor could be going before faculty as soon as November.
Art Professor Terry O’day, who has helped develop the minor, said it will focus on issues surrounding sustainability, including civic engagement, culture, the scientific aspects of sustainability and how to distribute the world’s resources.
O’day said that part of the minor is constructed around the idea of the sustainability triangle, which includes three topic areas that must be balanced: people, planet, and profit.

The proposed minor includes an array of different subject areas, such as media, science, and art.
“Everyone has a stake in achieving sustainability,” said O’day, which is a reason that the minor is designed to accompany any degree.
O’day hopes to have the minor approved this year.  If approved, the minor could be in the catalog as early as next fall.
