Intramural Sports Are Back

Students at Pacific University are taking advantage of intramural sports being offered once again since COVID-19. The program provides students with an opportunity to participate in a variety of sports competitively against each other. This semester there have been a total of 230 participants in the variety of intramural sports offered.

Pacific University Women’s Volleyball team has had their fair share of ups and downs this season; winning clutch games, but also coming up short in close competitions. A chance of redemption is possible for the team with the second round of conference play starting up. The Boxers plan to look past their bumpy start to the season and get back in the win column.

Women Support Women

As a group, the women’s soccer team made a decision to travel to Dallas, Texas to play two matches during such a controversial time. This Texas trip to play has been planned for the last year and a half, with COVID being the primary reason it kept getting postponed. While preparing for this trip and the season, the state passed the Texas Heartbeat Act.

Fifth-Year Athlete

2020 was a year full of hardships for everybody, but it was especially difficult for senior athletes who had lost their last year of college sports to the pandemic. Then, in October of 2020, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) granted an extra year of eligibility for all fall, winter, and spring sport athletes in the Division III category to make up for their lost year.
