The women’s golf team completed their 2014-2015 season at the NWC championship tournament in Sunriver, Ore. on April 26. The team took eighth place at the final tournament, shooting 857 over the course of the two-day tournament.

Senior Madeleine Ottosson finished 25th to lead the Boxers individually. Ottosson was the only Boxer to score in double digits over the weekend, shooting an 88 on day one and an 87 on day two.

“I had a couple of bad holes here and there and it ended up affecting my score a lot,” said Ottosson. “But other parts of my game were really good. It just didn’t show when it came to the results.”

Senior Claire Ramaley finished 33rd and junior Emily Penttila finished right behind her in 34th place. Pentilla, who had played well all season, said the tournament was a bit of a disappointment according.

The team battled through a tough season this year, finishing in the lower ranks of every tournament they played in. The team highlight was the NWC Fall Classic in October, where they placed seventh of nine teams.

While team success was lower than anticipated, individual success had several high points over the season. Ottosson was at the forefront of that success, placing at the top of the team’s standings at every tournament.

Pentilla also showed improvement over the season, ranking in several tournaments. Although she experienced a lot of individual success, Pentilla said she has already begun looking forward to next season.

“I am looking forward to welcoming new players while maintaining a strong team connection with the remaining players,” said Penttila.

For Ottosson, the end of the season brings her golfing career at Pacific to a close.

“It’s been a great experience with trial and error along the way,” said Ottosson.

“Being able to play at so many different courses and meeting so many different people I normally wouldn’t have met, is high up on my list of favorite memories here at Pacific.”
