The Center for Gender Equity and the Art Club partnered Oct. 29 to host the annual Human Body Canvas with the theme of “Embrace Your Inner Monster.” Canvases went onstage in Tom Miles to showcase student artwork and share their experiences and struggles with body confidence. Senior Kaela Jenkins embraced her love of heavy metal in the artwork she showcased on her body and attributed her growing confidence to being in a sorority and an accepting environment. Senior Mal Emmons talked about their recent struggle with mental illness and used their artwork to showcase that continuing struggle. Junior Bryce Fowler celebrated his body and its ability to allow him to be physically active and adventurous. The event was the third Human Body Canvas project the Center for Gender Equity has hosted.
