Residents across Forest Grove experienced a power outage at 12:03 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8. According to the City of Forest Grove, the outage was due to a hit-and-run accident that resulted in a pole being broken off at the ground.

The pole was located on David Hill Road near Forest Gale Drive. As a result of the pole falling to the ground, the cables connected to the pole were also disconnected.

As a result of the accident and pole falling, the City of Forest Grove said on their website that the electric substation which is located near Thatcher Road and Gales Creek Highway also failed.  This lead to approximately 3,000 customers being without power, including all of the Forest Grove campus.

According to the website, all service was brought back to the Forest Grove area by 2:30 a.m. though, the city said that most people had power back within 90 minutes.
